What is a chiropractor?

Dr. Justin and Dr. Kaye have completed 8 years of school earning their doctorate. They have completed all 5 board exams necessary to be a licensed doctor. In the state of Ohio, chiropractors are primary care physicians.

What does a chiropractor do?

Chiropractors have advanced knowledge and training in neuromusculoskeletal care. We assess the root cause of your pain and specifically tailor your treatments to your issue. A lot of times, but not always, care includes manipulations, rehab, dry needling, and massage. Adjustments are used to improve the range of motion in a joint and decrease muscle tension and pain. The popping you may hear are gas bubbles forming and releasing within the joint, like cracking your knuckles! These pops do not determine the efficacy of the adjustment, we adjust to improve the mobility.

Are chiropractors safe?

There are multiple studies that show the safety of chiropractic care. Furthermore, each new patient will receive a detailed history and exam to determine if they are a candidate for chiropractic care. From there we can decide the best course of action together!

How many chiropractic sessions do you need?

We average 6-8 visits to achieve patient satisfaction. Nationally, the average is over 20 visits! We accomplish this by being evidence-based and practicing up-to-date guidelines.

How much does a chiropractic care cost?

We do accept some insurance plans and can call us anytime to inquire if we accept yours or not. We also offer out of pocket as well if you do not have insurance.

Why should you choose our office?

We are truly different at Essential Health and Wellness. We do not force any treatment plans or long-term care that will drain you of money and time. We believe in treating people how we would want our own families to be treated. We give you an individual plan of attack based on your goals. We use treatments that have been shown to be evidence-based and effective in treating pain!

What are common chiropractic techniques?

Both doctors are trained to use various techniques based on what you will need and what your goals are. We offer spinal and extremity (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles) manipulations (where we get pops out of your joints), activators, drop tables, and flexion distraction. We also may use soft tissue techniques and physiotherapy to benefit you further.

What other conditions can be treated by chiropractic care?

Outside of the spine, some people may not know that we treat extremity pain as well! From shoulder impingement, tennis/golfers elbow, and carpal tunnel syndrome to hip bursitis, knee pain, and plantar fasciitis. These are just a few common examples we see in our office daily!

Can I get chiropractic care during pregnancy or as a child?

Chiropractic care is safe during pregnancy. Adjustments may differ depending on how far along the pregnancy you are. We offer multiple techniques to still have a safe and effective treatment. Children are also able to receive chiropractic care. The adjustments are lighter and not aggressive on them at all.

How does a chiropractor help lower back pain?

Low back pain, often referred to as pain from the lumbar spine, is the most common reason people seek medical care in the country. Our doctors determine what produces the pain in the low back and treat it accordingly. Common issues are disc injuries, muscle strains, lumbar sprains, facet syndrome, and degeneration/arthritis.

How does a chiropractor help neck pain?

Pain from the cervical spine benefits greatly from chiropractic. The neck is a very complicated area with a lot of anatomic involvement. Sometimes neck pain can produce headaches or migraines which can be reduced by chiropractic care.

How does a chiropractor help sciatica?

Sciatica is a symptom, not a diagnosis. The first step is to determine what is causing this common leg symptom. We use specific rehab protocols to reduce this irritation and improve the function of the sciatic nerve and the muscles and joints surrounding it. Other things we look for in people with leg pain are if it’s the actual sciatic nerve, lumbar spine referral pain, or sacroiliac joint referral pain. Other causes of sciatic-type pain would include muscle or other nerves that can cause leg pain.
